You are now watching: The Flower

  • KiprosTV is an initiative to support the Arts & Culture of Cyprus. You can be part of it! You too can help us to continue to produce such videos for the local community.
  • A video art piece by Vicky Anastasiou, a music artist. The video features her song ‘Quicksand’ for which she wrote both the music and the lyrics. The song itself is about how our constant yet in vain search for a greater purpose as human beings causes ignorance for what is so beautiful around us!

This was not a staged video, it is a documentation of a real life situation.

In the words of Kostas Chrysikos, a Political Scientist & Journalist, the Flower’s value becomes visible only in terms of materialism. Part of a bouquet, part of flower decoration, a present. A means to an end. When it escapes its material facet it becomes rubbish. Most people have become material-oriented and neglect their romantic nature for pragmatism’s sake. Βecause this is the so-called ‘everyday life’s mandate’ for most of us. Only the child’s attention was attracted by the flower. Innocent, unconcerned and purely romantic soul. Before it learns to be busy and worrisome. Always trying to catch up with everyday life’s rhythm. to survive in a harsh world, never to enjoy.

    1. Georgia Zeniou Says:

amazing video! the melody, the lyrics and its whole meaning its just perfect!
as well as the scene with the child who noticed the flower when nobody else did!
      well done Vicky!

    2. Petros Pishoftas Says:

What one has to wonder is whether only the kid saw the flower or whether everyone did but our conformitism and ego as adults have grown beyond us. It is really sad when one fails to admire the beauty that is all around us, even lying on our path.

    3. Anna Phylactidou Says:

this is sad…….. a very sad reality people ripped out of emotions , the immotions a single red flower provides…
